2009 Fiesta Classic

January 17, 18, and 19, 2009

The 2009 Fiesta Classic is now a memory. Thank you to all who participated, supported, officiated, staffed and cheered from home. We look forward to Fiesta Classic 2010. Have a great season!

Divisions offered - 18 Open, 18 Club, 16 Open and 16 Club

Format - Festival Format. Each division will play three days. The first two rounds will be pool play, Monday play is elimination brackets. Gold Division brackets are double elimination - all others are single elimination.

Entry - The entry fee is $695 again this year. Sign up through www.signuptoplay.com. Mail entry form and fee to Arizona Juniors VBC - Fiesta Classic - 2105 S. 48th Street, Suite 108, Tempe, AZ 85282. Entry deadline is Jan 1, 2009.

Check In - Check in will be from 5 pm to 9 pm at ASU Rec Center. If you are unable to get to check in before it closes you must check in a minimum of 1 hour before your first match on Saturday Morning. You will need to provide the tournament with a set of your medical release forms to be kept at the tournament desk. If you want them back you can come get them on Monday when you are done playing. Please bring a set of copies so that each coach keeps a set on them at all times.

Sites - We will be using 11 courts at ASU - 4 at the Student Rec Center, 4 in PE West and 3 in PE East; and several other locations through out the city. Parking at ASU (for all three buildings) is in the parking garage due west of the Student Rec Center. Enter the parking garage off Apache Blvd and Normal St.

Start Time - The tournament starts times are 8 am for the morning wave and 2 pm for the afternoon wave. This is the rule for Saturday and Sunday. Monday brackets will start at various times throughout the day. Check the tournament desk for any changes. Traditionally we don't schedule 5 pm matches on Monday. Obviously the numbers of teams in the tournament will dictate the format but that is our goal.

Roster Changes - roster changes will be allowed until Jan 4, 2009. If you make a roster change after the initial entry you must click on the Rebuild Roster button or the new staff/players will not show up on the tournament roster or in the University Athlete info for the collegiate coaches. Collegiate Coaches - please use the University Athlete system to register for a packet. You can do that at www.universityathlete.com University Athlete will be set up at ASU Student Rec Center - at the tournament desk.

Team List - Accepted team list as of 1/13/09

JC Showcase - Saturday, Jan 17th - Practices start at 3 pm, Match start at 6 pm. PE East north court.

Hotel and Travel Info - Contact Mary Jane Hughes of Destination Phoenix. You can access our great room deals at www.destinationphoenixllc.com Go to the Volleyball Link and then Fiesta Classic. Mary Jane has blocked rooms for our tournament that you will not be able to get directly with the hotel. She can also set up your air transportation.

PF Chang's Rock & Roll Marathon is the same weekend as the Fiesta Classic again this year. This will affect travel around the city on Sunday. It could also affect hotels and car rentals. Please check with Mary Jane Hughes if you are having trouble with hotels, vans, anthing to do with getting in and around Phoenix.
