Club and Coach Awards


The Arizona Juniors Volleyball Club and its coaches have been honored on several occasions at the prestigious Volleyball Festival, the largest amateur sporting event in the world. This tournament was founded in 1982 by Volleyball Hall of Fame honorees Dave and Bernice Epperson. Annually around 1000 teams compete in this event.

The Arizona Juniors Volleyball Club received the tournaments highest recognition for “Exemplary Contribution to Junior Volleyball Development”. This recognition is given to a maximum of one club per year chosen from the hundreds of clubs that participate at the Festival.


In addition club coaches, Bernard Ing, Joaquin Soares and Tom Person have each been awarded the “Distinguished Service to Junior Volleyball” award in separate ceremonies and in different years, Bernard in 1997, Joe in 1999 and Tom in 2002. This award is given annually to two or three top club coaches from across the country. Their pictures and names are shown on the Volleyball Festival Wall of Fame.
